There are quite a few ways to play the new Nintendo Switch, and we’re taking an overview of everyone with this article. The two best-known forms of its use of both red and blue Joy-Con controllers are usually seen on top of it, but the others can be found underneath or next to them. This makes for some interesting switches that will make you think about your life while playing. It is very possible to have the same game on two separate controllers, so there are lots of ways to compare players with different types of games. I hope each video introduces you to at least one type of Switch because I will cover all the other methods in my series of articles.
Nintendo Switch With Neon Lights
Nintendo has just launched a whole bunch of items that they are selling as part of their Switch release, most notably, their newest GameBoy Advance 2.0 controller (or a third controller if you want), which brings back the classic joy-con design from the original Nintendo Super Mario Bros. in 1991. They also just released a set of neon light strips that give off bright lights when placed in front of the Joy-Con. Obviously, these are only around retail stores, so they can’t be seen much outside of stores. You can get these free online, too. But you need to keep them away from the children.
In addition, the latest Switch includes four buttons that go up, down, left, right, and left again, and a small LED button that is used for power. In order for the neon colors to actually show up on those buttons, they’re set in motion by the motion sensors inside the switch. So each color of the Joy-Con triggers one of four switches, sending the associated color of the strip to the LEDs in the strip itself. Then, if you place the strip into a wall, either directly above the Joy-Con’s analog sticks or in front of it, the strip will simply turn green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, red, and blue. That leaves you with two green stripes, one pink stripe, one purple stripe, another yellow stripe, two orange stripes, another red stripe, and finally a black strip. There are even four neon blocks that you can add to the strip on top of the green stripe to create that perfect rainbow effect. As far as we know, none of these items require any special software, which means anyone can use one. Just take a good look at what they do and see why you should buy them.
Nintendo Switch With Classic Joy-Con Motion Sensor
There’s nothing here that requires no specific setup, and all of the controls are easy to find using the “Joy-Con” key that is located beneath the analog stick. However, in the video below, you will notice that the white version of the switch, when turned upside-down, does not feel like anything else that could go wrong in terms of performance. It seems really weird that they didn’t give us a chance to try out this method before releasing it, so I’m glad to see they made it work pretty well. Nintendo Switch On-The-Go Controller With A Dual Link Cable
The first Switch is called “The Original Series," and it was designed to be played alongside the previous Nintendo Entertainment System. That meant a hardwired connection between the controller and the NES console, and so you needed a cable. Also, when you were playing the last-gen version of the Switch, you would hook your phone onto your home Wi-Fi network, then plug that into your old Xbox controller at home. That ended up being impossible since everyone who owned a TV in the early 2000s already had wireless technology. Fortunately, Nintendo discovered the solution to that problem and created a simple adapter cable that goes straight into every port on the end of the Switch — including the USB Type-C port, the audio jack, and more. Now you can connect the portable control to your phone so you can play Mario Kart 8 on the go or Luigi's Mansion on your iPhone. But you might still be wondering how to change the Joy-Con back without removing it from the unit, so I would recommend sticking within the case for easier access.
Nintendo Switch On-The-Go Controller With A Single Cable
Nintendo continues to make strides into making this Switch an experience that is better for players who want to remove themselves from the confines of a couch. Thanks to three of the single cable ports in the Switch itself, you can easily disconnect the controller and put the rest of the system back together. If you connect it to your TV cable box or headset, it should be able to handle it. There are seven buttons, but that is the most important part of the puzzle. Those might be included in a separate section along with the rest of the switches, but they seem to be connected to one central piece of hardware. At each corner, Nintendo is putting in two individual clips to hold everything together. These clips then go through the main connector of the Switch to connect it to your TV cable box. Once you have all the attachments, pull the switchback, and slide the cables under the Joy-Con while the entire thing is sitting on a stand. This way, you can see the pieces in action before pulling the switch forward. It can be tricky to figure out exactly where the switches are, though. Make sure the right ones are installed correctly, though, so don’t mess up either of those clips.
Nintendo Switch With One Cable Port
Nintendo has done a great job of setting these new rules out for everyone to enjoy: anyone who wants to keep their eyes glued to a screen, someone who loves to watch a movie or TV show with friends, anyone who likes to share their favorite books or music. As far as I can tell, that is the majority of people who get to use one of these things. Everyone else is welcome to try it, though, so the community is definitely getting to share that information a bit more than ever. It is, after all, better that way, isn’t it?
Nintendo Switch Without An HDMI Cable Connector
Nintendo tried to set up a new trend here, but the company still can’t fit in an HDMI cable in it. Instead, the player must connect it to an external device, such as a smartphone or tablet. To do this, the user plugs the Nintendo Switch into a big box of cable. In theory, this shouldn’t be too difficult, but many gamers have complained that having two different devices plugged into the Switch causes problems. Most owners of newer iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and Windows tablets all have issues with keeping up with the newer versions of these products or dealing with multiple users. You also need to make sure that anyone who needs to plug in their Switch uses that same outlet. Luckily, Nintendo figured this out pretty quickly. A single cable connects to an outlet, while a second cable holds everything else together. If one of the cable connections is damaged (especially if that happens often), they all come unglued.
Nintendo Switch WITHOUT Another Wire Connection
To deal with multiple users, Nintendo sets up a secondary cable box. If the owner’s Switch is attached directly to their television, they can plug the cord directly into the TV via the TV’s HDMI port and connect to the player’s device. Otherwise, they connect their own Nintendo Switch directly to the primary cable. When all that’s connected, they plug the controller cords out of the case. In this scenario, it works because both the Switch and the additional cable box are plugged into the same outlet, meaning the Switch stays cool to connect. Some manufacturers may complain about this fact, but Nintendo assures me that there are plenty of people who truly love it. Regardless of whether this makes the process slightly complicated, it has worked out pretty well if I’ve heard any of the complaints. Hopefully, something similar works for Nintendo Switch. But we just haven’t tried, yet and we might never if we don’t try.
Nintendo Switch WITHOUT An Other Power Source
If the Switch doesn’t have enough power to charge the battery, the batteries get recharged with the charger. Nintendo tries to keep this feature secret, to avoid people complaining that something else comes into contact during charging. We’ll probably have to wait until future news articles to learn exactly how this works. Sadly, the battery itself is pretty much invisible, so it’s hard to see why Nintendo hasn’t revealed this before launching the Switch. Even the Wii U takes over.
Nintendo Switch WITHOUT An Audio Jack
Nintendo’s answer to this annoyance is the internal speaker, which is hidden inside the Switch. While this works for people who listen to music with headphones on, it doesn’t work for others who rely entirely on noise cancellation. Still, it keeps us informed when our friends aren’t listening, which is nice. Unfortunately, the internal speaker can sound like nothing else, especially during a game when you’re speaking and yelling. Usually, the player is the person in charge of blocking the microphone, so they lose out on hearing anything from their buddies and the mic becomes muted. Thankfully, the voice input functions of the Switch make that a little harder, however. You can now hear yourself speaking clearly, but the outside mic doesn’t help you out much at night.
